![]() I was provided with a free EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Thermometer in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own. Growing up in a southern household means I have spent much of my lifetime in the kitchen. It’s just a way of life. I learned to enjoy cooking at a very young age spending my afternoons in the kitchen with my mom or grandma. I will admit I have a fear when it comes to cooking. I fear undercooked and overcooked meat. I can ruin a good steak by cutting into it before it has fully rested because I’m worried it will be undercooked. My husband prefers his steak medium, I choose medium well, and my daughters won’t touch meat that isn’t well done. Cutting into a steak before it has properly rested means the juices can’t flow back into the meat, and the steak can be very tough. No one wants that! I also fear undercooking game meat and getting my family sick. I have a habit of overcooking deer and wild boar because of this fear. I was provided with the opportunity to test the EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Thermometer This lightweight digital thermometer is battery operated making it great for grilling. It comes equipped with an anti-microbial and waterproof housing that covers the probe, and provides a rapid temperature reading within 5 seconds. Cleanup is a breeze. Just wash the probe off with a little soap and water, dry, and place the housing back on. The correct temperature guessing game is eliminated thanks to a handy temperature charge printed right on the housing. Temperatures are included for beef and pork medium rare, ground beef or pork, beef and pork medium, poultry, and beef and pork well. Temperatures can be read in both Fahrenheit and Celsius. I have used the EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Thermometer during every meal I have prepared since receiving it. I started with steaks on the grill, and they turned out to be some of the best steaks I have ever cooked. The meat was perfectly cooked and juicy, and the 1.5mm probe is so small it doesn’t allow the juices to escape through the puncture hole. I also didn’t have to worry about losing the thermometer outside while grilling because the EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Thermometer also includes a built in clip on the back. I clipped it to my apron and kept grilling. The next night I decided to make Parmesan and Panko breaded chicken tenders. I often end up cutting the tenders in half to make sure they are properly cooked or I leave them in too long making the chicken extremely dry. This time I uncapped the thermometer, stuck the probe in each tender, and ended up with fully cooked and extremely juicy chicken tenders that my whole family loved. I will never cook meat without a thermometer again! The EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Thermometer can be purchased on Amazon.com for $39.95 but is currently on sale for $19.95!
